Social Justice Advocate Offers Lasallian Address at ÐÔÊÓ½ç Fall Commencement Ceremonies

ÐÔÊÓ½ç graduates have “the tremendous responsibility to uphold Lasallian values like recognizing the needs of the marginalized, the poor, and the oppressed,” said Raven Robinson of Romeoville, who presented the Lasallian Address at two of ÐÔÊÓ½ç’s Fall Commencement ceremonies in Romeoville on December 12.

Robinson earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and , and shared that the Lasallian core principles of quality education, inclusive community, concern for the poor, and social justice were integral to her undergraduate experience.

She exemplified these values not only in her academic studies and research but also off campus through her work and volunteer experiences. She not only assisted staff at ÐÔÊÓ½ç as a Community Engagement & Experiential Learning Graduate Assistant, but also worked as a Social Work Research Student Worker on campus this past year. Furthermore, Robinson worked as a Care Management Intern at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, in addition to her prior volunteer work at the Blessings Table food pantry and the GEMS after-school program.

Additionally, Robinson presented at the 2025 Celebration of Scholarships, delivering a presentation titled “Navigating Service Provision and Community Perceptions in a Suburban Environment: A Study of Homeless Service Nonprofits.”

Being selected as the Lasallian Speaker for the Fall Commencement ceremonies adds to her honors. Robinson was a recipient of the De La Salle Medallion for Excellence in Service and Community Engagement; was the recipient of the LU President’s Excellence award; received the James P. Sczepaniak Endowed Scholarship Award, along with being named to the ÐÔÊÓ½ç Dean’s List for five semesters.
