Extreme Heat Warning Notification

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the areas of Illinois where ÐÔÊÓ½ç is located. The warning is in effect through Thursday evening, July 2, 2026, as dangerously hot and humid conditions continue across the region. Afternoon heat index values of 100–110°F are expected, with little overnight relief.

The National Weather Service urges everyone to take the following precautions:

  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun. 
  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. 
  • Know the . 
  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. 
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. 
    Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Cooling Locations on the Romeoville Campus (In case of Power Outage)
Cooling stations are available for students, faculty, and staff at the following location:

  • ÐÔÊÓ½ç Police Department in West Hall (24/7)

Student Support Resources

  • TimelyCare is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for virtual mental health support.
  • The Student Wellness Center is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays for in-person services.

The ÐÔÊÓ½ç Police Department is available 24/7 and can be reached at 815-836-5911 or 815-836-5222 for non-emergency assistance.

If it is determined that conditions have become too severe to operate university functions, the ÐÔÊÓ½ç Emergency Notification System will be activated. Emails, texts, and voice calls will be sent to our students, faculty, and staff. The notification also will be posted at  and on university social media.
