Health Professions Students Receive Support from Dr. Dennis Rio

Five ÐÔÊÓ½ç students recently received funding to enroll in a Kaplan test preparation course of their choice, including preparation for the MCAT, DAT, or OAT. It was thanks to a generous 2025–2026 donation from Professor Emeritus Dr. Dennis Rio.

Ethan Brooks, Karen Ramirez, Osama Abdel Fattah, Amina Hrnjic, and Delaney Ortiz are Health Professions students who plan to continue their studies after earning a ÐÔÊÓ½ç Biology degree. Possible careers include

The Kaplan courses will provide students with structured, high-quality preparation, including realistic practice opportunities designed to strengthen test-taking strategies and content knowledge. Students will also have access to comprehensive resources such as live instruction, on-demand videos, and full-length practice exams.

Rio served the department with distinction for 30 years, including as department chair and health professions director, and his continued support reflects his longstanding commitment to student success.

The Biology Department thanks Rio for his generosity and for his continued investment in the academic and professional success of students preparing for careers in the health professions.
