| General Description of Hazing Incidents |
New first-year and transfer students participated in "Rookie Night". The evening included being picked up on campus, blindfolded, and given a shirt to wear. They were taken to an off campus house known as the "Baseball House". When they arrived they were taken to the garage where lights were off and music was blaring. They were then provided alcohol that they needed to consume, participate in a talent show, engage in a "dildo race". If students didn't participate they were ridiculed and humiliated. There was fear of retaliation and social consequences. |
| Sanctions Imposed |
ÐÔÊÓ½ç University Police Department reviewed the case with the State's Attorney, who elected not to pursue criminal charges. The matter was referred to the Student Conduct Process and Human Resources, which found violations of the Hazing Policy and other University policies. Due to passage of time, the individual students responsible for the activity had already graduated and were no longer subject to the conduct process. Current students and coaches in the Baseball program will be required to participate in Hazing Prevention Programs. The University also elected to replace the Baseball coaching staff.  |
