The Office of Community Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL) serves as a hub for community engagement at ÐÔÊÓ½ç. CEEL brings together students, faculty, staff, and off-campus partners to support community thriving through developing mutually beneficial partnerships with local schools and nonprofit organizations, while empowering ÐÔÊÓ½ç students to apply classroom knowledge, develop leadership skills, and reflect meaningfully.
Who We Are
The Office of Community Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL) serves as a hub for community engagement at ÐÔÊÓ½ç. CEEL brings together students, faculty, staff, and off-campus partners through course and community-based experiences which respond to real community needs while advancing academic learning. CEEL supports community thriving in the region through developing mutually beneficial partnerships with local schools and nonprofit organizations, while empowering ÐÔÊÓ½ç students to apply classroom knowledge, develop leadership skills, and reflect meaningfully.
What We Do
CEEL supports and coordinates a wide range of community engagement initiatives across the university, including:
- School and community partnerships designed to contribute to community thriving, including the ÐÔÊÓ½ç Community Schools Consortium (LUCSC)
- Community Engaged Learning (CEL) courses that integrate academic learning with community-identified needs
- Experiential learning opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom
- Student leadership development, including the Community Engaged Learning Facilitator (CELF) Program
- Resources and support for faculty/ staff, students, and community partners, including our annual Faculty-Partner Roundtable event and other educational development opportunities
- Inclusive access programs for community members, such as Community Connections at ÐÔÊÓ½ç (CCLU)
- Civic education and dialogue opportunities, including voter registration and engagement
Each initiative is grounded in collaboration, reflection, and a commitment to justice-focused learning.
Resources and Support
CEEL provides resources and support for:
- Faculty, including course development assistance, workshops, reflection tools, and partner connections
- Students, including leadership opportunities, experiential learning pathways, and paid community-based student employment
- Community and school partners, including opportunities for community-based and campus engagement in support of youth
